Your social media channels can be an important digital point of contact for citizens with your organisation. In this article we will explain how you can share platform activity via social media.

There are two options to share via social media:

  1. Use the 'Share' button to share projects, folders or input in projects

  2. Create and activate our interactive widget

The Share button in projects and input in projects

To drive people to your project or certain inputs you can use the 'Share' button to easily create a social media post on Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp or Email. If you want to share it on another social media platform you can easily copy the link to the project when clicking on the 'Share' button.

This option to share projects and input can also be used by the users of your platform.

Where to find the 'Share' button

In folders the share button can be found on the bottom right corner of the banner.

In a project you can find the share button in the 'About' box.
Note: If you are using the Content Builder and want the ability to share, make sure to drag the 'About' box into your description!

In an input within a project, the share options are shown on the right.

When a user posted an input in a project, a screen pops up asking if they want to share their idea or contribution to get more votes for instance. We can disable this option for you. Reach out to support@citizenlab.co if you want it disabled.

Add or remove sharing options

If you want to add or remove sharing options (e.g. you don't want to show Whatsapp as an option), make sure to reach out to support@citizenlab.co.

If you want to disable sharing completely, you can also reach out to support@citizenlab.co. Mind that it is not possible to disable sharing for just one project. If we disable it, it is disabled for the whole platform.

Create and activate our interactive widget

A widget creates an interactive link from your website to the participation platform. It is a designed frame that automatically shows a number of ideas, with a clear call-to-action (button).

We have a separate support article about widgets that you can find here!
